There’s a new trailer out for a Netflix show executive produced by former President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama, “We the People.” Described as “music and animation that educates a new generation of young Americans about the power of the people,” the show combines both music and animation to do this. A series of 10 music videos titled “We the People” will teach kids civics lessons tailored to their interests.
Several artists are participating in the series, including H.E.R, Janelle Monáe, Brandi Carlile, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Adam Lambert, Cordae, Bebe Rexha, KYLE, and Andra Day. Chris Nee created the show, which was executive produced by Kenya Barris, Priya Swaminathan, Tonia Davis, and the Obamas. During the DOCS Talks section of the film festival on June 24, AFI DOCS will host an outdoor screening of “We the People,” followed by a Q&A with the director. July 4 is the premiere date for the show on Netflix.
