A new interview with Salma Hayek shows the actress being incredibly vulnerable about aging and weight loss. A 54-year-old actress told InStyle magazine that people expect her to be an appropriate size because it’s “what’s expected of a person who is considered attractive.”
Hayek said that as she gets older, people expect her not to age. However, after gaining a few pounds to prepare for her upcoming movie, “House of Gucci,” she is proud of her body despite not being at her target weight.
“There hasn’t been much loss on my part. But, it’s like wow, wow, wow. You get it so fast, and it’s like, oh my goodness, it’s so hard to lose it,” she confessed.
She said her body had been “very generous,” no matter how much pressure and criticism she put on it. “I don’t think I am a tamale, but I know that for my age and for the lifestyle I lead, I am not doing too bad.”. She spoke of meditation as the source of all her results.
“A great thing about meditation is that it makes you feel like your body is at rest, which is delicious and satisfying. Taking time to breathe and go inside helps us discover our bodies in a new way and not to worry about the expectations.”
Hayek stated that she has been meditating ever since she was 30 years old. “It gives you a feeling of lightness and satisfaction in your body,” she said. “With your breath and going inside, you see things differently than you previously might have. As a result, you learn not to get sucked into other people’s expectations.”
