SUMMARY In an orphanage in the countryside led by Louberger, an old eccentric, Sauval, a former pupil who is now the benefactor of this establishment, comes upon inexpectedly . The orphanage is all worked-up because the old head has managed to make the kids very respectful and worship the visitor. In fact, Sauval is a corrupt and criminal lawyer, wanted by the police. Louberger begs him to remain the loyal and sensitive man, the children believe in . This father "Christmas" agrees to pretend until the police arrests him. He will personally ask the police to be arrested far from the chidren . One of the orphans, Clarens, has dicovered the truth, but will keep it a secret.
