Summary : 1589. For over 30 years, fratricidal fights have violently opposed Catholics and Protestants. The king of France Henri III has just died, murdered by a monk Before dying, to succeed to the throne, he has named his cousin Henri de Bourbon, king of Navarre, leader of the Huguenot party and yet his ally. Together, these supporters for tolerance tried to conquer Paris again which was left to the members of the League with the help of the king of Spain Philippe II’ army . For the moment Henri of Navarre, still a soldier before being a king, must conquer the throne, take possession of Paris, and become Catholic. He’ is promised it several times. Unless he abjures, there won’ t be coronation. he will be king , by the right, but not in fact.
