The action took place in 1901. While France was crazy about the cycle race Paris-San Remo, Jules Duroc, in his workshop, was devising a model of bicycle which was to disrupt all the ordinary designs of races. Meanwhile, the household was more and more in debt. Delphine, Juless wife, had to earn her livings by herself as a dressmaker. But one day, a bailiff, Mulot, came to make a seizure... Delphine Duroc, always very smart, cried to divert Mulot, which enabled Jules to escape through the window... Thus he arrived at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, where the start of the cycle race Paris-San Remo was taking place. The bailiff and his wife, came to meet him. Jules joined the racers, and asked to be registered in the race....
